Painting class in Surrey
We have put great thought into planning your art course, with each lesson set out and designed to introduce you to a different facet of your craft. What's more, each course is different too, giving students who have taken one course to register for subsequent art courses with us later on in the year.
We provide drawing and painting classes in Surrey for all levels of experience and aptitude, and our classes offer a welcoming and positive atmosphere throughout.
The first weeks of our painting classes in Surrey are aimed at beginners and experienced artists alike, and cover basic elements of picture construction, perspective, balance, and scale, providing a foundation for the rest of the course.
In this section we begin to introduce colour, texture and tone to your art using oil pastels. We will show you how to mix colours on the paper. Rather than the traditional palette, we will show how overlaying and blending various colours helps to create texture within the artwork.
In these weeks, we move onto watercolour, and study various brush techniques, how to mix colours, and creating different hues and tones, as well as working with light and shadows. We will also explore the colour wheel and teach you the importance of paper preparation.
In this time you will learn to use water-based acrylics. These give vibrant colours and texture to an artwork, using both paint brushes and palette knives. This is a really exciting medium and one that many of our students often choose to work with permanently in the future.
This week is devoted to preparing for an exhibition, and mounting the many wonderful pieces of art you have created over the course. We will teach you the necessary steps and techniques, which can be used in your future art career.
In the final week of our painting classes in Surrey, you will have the opportunity to display your work at our end of course exhibition. This is a wonderful, social event where we celebrate all you have achieved!
